Exciting night, exciting prize!

Tonight my husband returns from Japan after 10 days of travel.  He always laughs when people ask how he does it, because in our home 10 days of travel means 10 occasions to sleep through the night, and what parent doesn’t envy that?

But he misses his family.  And since both our children and I crave some time with him, we’ll be staying in for the night.  He’ll wrestle with the boys, toss our 11-month-old in the air, and listen to their stories from the week.  Then we’ll insist on early bedtimes (or a movie, if we get desperate).

And soon, in honor of forgoing the Italian restaurant and staying in, one lucky reader of my blog will win a prize pack, thanks to Bertolli Frozen and Ogilvy PR, sponsors of my Night in Napa.  It includes:

  • Skillet
  • KitchenAid Countertop Oven
  • 2 Riedel wine glasses
  • 1 bottle of St. Supery wine
  • 2 sets of Emile Henre plateware
  • 1 year supply of Bertolli Frozen Meals

Contest details to follow, but right now, I have a night in to plan.

Enjoy your night in!

  1. Wow. I am so excited for this contest!

  2. Have a wonderful ‘welcome home’ evening with your husband! When my husband had long, overseas trips, I was always so antsy – didn’t sleep or eat well because I missed him (the dog moped around, too) When he returned, we’d ‘celebrate’ with a home-cooked meal – and then he’d break out the souvenir gifts!! 8-)

Your contest prizes are the MOST amazing I’ve seen! Can’t wait to hear the details. (Hope I don’t lag behind – exams/presentations this week and next – right before T-day – so I’m falling awfully behind in blog reading. I’ll watch for your tweets!)

  3. So excited for the contest too!

  4. The recipes are fun to read. Roasting chestnuts brought back fond memories of travel time in my 20′s. I feel as if I am part of Jennifer’s family with the sharing of her home life.

  5. This is big!

  6. What a great contest!

And enjoy having your husband home!

  7. Yay for your husband returning home safely! Your contest sounds amazing – so many items to win. I’ll be entering for sure :)

  8. I hope it is not more work to have him home! Any meal that he has not had to prepared is usually a hit. Go for something quick and easy. Spend the extra time to make yourself even more amazing; He will be wowed and the evening donned a success :) Mandy

  9. I am looking forward to the contest! Making healthy meals every night for 7 people going 7 different ways is definitely challenging!

  17. There is nothing more romantic than seeing your husband play with his children after a long day/trip away. Seeing their excited faces just makes me want to cook for them. What better way to say the family is together again than with a yummy Italian meal and a glass of wine. (And Bertolli frozen meals FOR A YEAR. OMG, that would save me when the next baby is born.)

I am excited to hear about this contest. I will be tuning in.

  18. love this contest!

  19. Thank you for such a wonderful prize to be offered to win! In these days, in this economy even the small things in life are GREAT! I wish you both well and happiness forever <3

  20. Looking forward to the contest! Great pictures on your blog :)

  21. I’ve never tried any of those frozen Bertoli meals, but I will now.

Yea for having hubs at home! Mine is home every night but works at 3:30 a.m. so the weekend represents when he is actually getting sleep, so it is like he is a different guy. I love weekend husband!

  22. I’m smiling because when I comfort myself (or my friends) on business trips away from home , its sleeping through the night that’s my biggest highlight (with 3 kids under 6….)

  23. I don’t usually comment on blogs but had to on this one. You have a very unique writing style. A lot of people don’t have that touch, they just drone on and on in the most boring way. But not you – thanks! I can’t wait to try out some of the recipes you have here (after a trip to the market to get the ingredients). Cooking is my favorite hobby. I don’t have time to read it all right now, I found your site when looking for something else on Google, but I’ve bookmarked your home page and will check back soon to see the latest articles. Visit my site if you’d like to read more. Thanks again!

  24. If you want to enter my (same) contest, I’ll enter yours! hehe
