Giveaway: $25 Visa Gift Card
On Saturday, I joined my blogging buddy, Kate from Kate in the Kitchen, at a Yoplait yogurt tasting event*, while Matt took all three kids to TwinsFest. Which attracted 34,000 baseball fans.
God bless him. (I wouldn’t have done it, but apparently with enough soda, cotton candy, and cracker jacks you can take your kids just about anywhere.)
Yoplait has launched a new product called Fiber One, which – did you guess it? – is yogurt with 5 grams of fiber in it, and they invited us downtown to try it.
What’s great about hanging out with your blogging buddy is that awkward moments don’t exist. It’s not that we don’t clam up occasionally (An old joke: how do you become a writer? By being an outcast in elementary school. Thanks, Mom, for the nerdy glasses that darkened when I stepped into the sun. Kidding! Love ya!). It’s because I read Kate’s blog, so her writing voice speaks to me even when she’s silent. And usually it’s telling me about chocolate or cross-country skiing, which makes for interesting listening.
Back to that $25 Visa Gift Card. Yoplait was kind enough to bestow one on us, and now it’s yours if you leave a comment below telling me what voice you channel. Winner is randomly drawn, so it’s okay if you don’t hear one. I may be slightly insane; see Exhibit A above.
*Sponsored content. Must reside in US to win and comment by midnight Central on 2/5/10.

What voice do I channel? It varies. Right now I hear Elizabeth Gilbert b/c I am listening to her new book Committed on audio (it’s great, of course). Mostly I just hear my better self with the words and voice I wish I had. Calmer, more eloquent, with perfect diction… and no “so” or “like”.

I haven’t tried that yogurt cause we make our own. Glad it has some added fiber!

Wonder Woman. Duh.
Do you know when the yogurt will be in stores?

Sounds like you had a fun time.
I don’t channel any voices, because I can’t get my own voice to shut off. Very annoying.

There’s this one blogger who speaks their mind and is fine with people disagreeing with the views on the blog. So, I am reminded of this when I’m writing an opinion. I remember to be true to myself and to not worry what others think.

I channel the voice of my grandma. She is so full of wisdom with a hint of humor!

I channel my stream of consciousness, if I am writing something. Not much thought into it, and I let it flow, which is easy when one writes mostly about sports.
My wife would probably say I should vocalize my stream of consciousness and channeled voice more often.

My grandmother.
She passed away 11 yrs ago, just before I got married and I spoke to her every day (by phone or in person). she always had a way of helping me just by being there.
I talk to her still and hear her in my mind sometimes.

Channel? What’s that? I thought it was something that goes with the TV? My husband LOVES yoplait and if it has fiber he will like it even more!

I love Missy answer. Mine doesn’t shut up either. But I think I also channel my dad’s voice. He’s the one in my head telling me all the things I should be doing instead of, say, reading and commenting on blogs.

Oh my gosh, I love that photo! ha ha.
I suppose I channel the voice of my dad when I am skeptical of something. He is a very funny and clever person who uses sarcasm to make light of things. He’s so good at making us laugh. Gallows humor at it’s best.
Thanks for a chance at this giveaway!

I find myself hearing lines from the TV show, Arrested Development, at the most inappropriate times. It’s actually become a great coping mechanism, though, because that show is hilarious so even the most annoying situation instantly becomes funnier.

My mother, without question!
When my boys are driving me crazy, I channel my mother’s wisdom with kids. “It is their job to question and challenge you. Imagine if they never questioned what you said? What kind of adults would they be?” Makes me smile every time

I constantly hear my mother coming out of my mouth when I talk to my children. Funny, growing up I never wanted to be just like my mom but now I hear her every time I open my mouth. It’s probably because she bestowed the dreaded mom-curse on me: I hope you have a daughter just like you.

Jealous of your sampling opportunities, Jen! The voice I channel is usually one that vacillates between being the best mom ever or the worst mom ever, depending on the day.

I channel the voice of Michael Pollan. I love that people are getting more fiber in their diet… but still worry about the rest of the shit Yoplait will be adding to this yogurt. Gums and HFCS? Is it really made with culture or is there gelatin in it? How many grams of sugar? I usually buy plain kefir or greek yogurt and add almond meal (fiber in a delicious form)… and since I’m a hypocrite (at least I can admit it) sugar free sweetener.

I channel the inner voice that says workout, eat a salad, do laundry, help your kids with their homework, pack a lunch, will the kids come home from school with all their teeth (not today), then after they go to bed I hear bands, lots and lots of bands.

I was raised by my grandparents so it’s my granddad’s voice
that I hear most often in my head.
