Traveling

I felt heroic, almost, traveling cross country alone with three. Installing three car seats in a taxi. Clearing security. Dashing from gate to gate on a layover. But then upon arrival he opened his back pack to show grandma his toys, and I wondered how I’d gotten so lost in the details.

  1. Sistah, until they are older and can take care of themselves better, us moms have to be stuck in the weeds most of the time. That is why we have mommy brain. We are so focused on kiddy details–when did he last poop? did she eat vegetables at any meal? how much sleep did they get? did I pack enough snacks to get through a 3 hour flight?–life’s important generalities seem to evade us most of the time. For me, it’s always when I see the kids playing with or relating to someone else that I get to take a step back and enjoy the people they are becoming. And though this fact upsets me, I know that as they grow and become more self-sufficient, those moments of joy and appreciation will become more frequent! Have an awesome time at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
