Winner is #4, according to Random.org. Congrats, Liz!
We’ve started a new tradition around here of a Sunday brunch. Every few weeks, we invite over friends and their children, and pray to God our kids sit for the meal. And serve caramel rolls. Because our kids will sit until they finish those.
How do you get your kids to sit at the table?
Salted Caramel Sauce, adapted from Simply Recipes:
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- pinch of salt
Mix together brown sugar and water in a saucepan for a “wet sand” appearance. Set on stove. When sugar syrup starts to boil, stir.
When your caramel has reached desired color, add butter. Stir. When butter has emulsified, add cream. Stir, and then add salt as well as vanilla. Remove from stove and pour in a glass container. Store for up to 2 weeks in your refrigerator (a great topping for ice cream as well).
Caution: This stuff is HOT! I’m missing some skin on my tongue.
Caramel Rolls:
- Bread dough
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Roll out bread dough. Layer butter, brown sugar and cinnamon on it. Roll up and cut into 2″ slices. Place over caramel sauce, and drizzle some on top. Cover, let rise until double.
Bake at 375 for about 20 minutes. Cool before serving.

Caramel rolls sound wonderful, I would love to try to make them!
We have major issues with keeping the kids at the table. What we’ve been trying lately is the first time they get up, we say “are you done? Should I put away your food?” If they don’t come back, we put/throw it away. If they leave a second time, the food goes away without warning.
The caramel rolls look divine!
Yum! ( I wish I had a caramel roll right now.)
We love caramel rolls!
Mmm, caramel on ice cream… wish I had some waiting in the fridge right now too.
Oh, yum. Me, please!!
ooh, i’ve been looking for a good caramel roll recipe since i lost mine a long time ago. i have to try these. especially if i win butter!!
There isn’t much I can do to keep my kids at the table besides providing them with breakfast foods. Cinnamon or caramel rolls, pancakes, scrambled eggs, they’ll eat it all. We eat what my sister calls brinner often. (Brinner = breakfast for dinner.)
What a great idea!
wow that’s a lot of butter! Awesome!
Oh challenge butter is the best for shortbread. The caramel rolls look so good though!
Caramel rolls! Who can resist those? Or butter?
Thanks for the chance,
Shirley
Wow….I would just melt butter to make my house smell good! Well, maybe I’d try cinnamon rolls, herb butter, cinnamon butter….
Oh yum, for both the caramel rolls and the butter. I’m making the rolls for Sunday, I think!
